One of the primary reasons for the current issue with the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic is that so many people do not have a healthy enough immune response to protect them when they get exposed to the virus. GrassrootsHealth and other researchers have demonstrated a greatly reduced risk of many unhealthy conditions when vitamin D status is at least 40-60 ng/ml (100-150 nmol/L) and the Omega-3 Index is at least 8%. We want everyone to be ‘exposed’ to this information and to know that they can take action to help themselves be healthy—NOW!
Your nutritional status plays a central role in how your body functions and responds to daily lifestyle and environmental factors. Vitamins and minerals play integral roles in all body functions and are integral to your health. A nutrient deficiency can contribute to an increased risk for:
- Flus
- Colds
- Pain
- Fatigue
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular Diseases
- Autoimmune Diseases
- Mental/Emotional Disorders
And so much more…
Nutrients are Required to Support Your Immune System to Protect Good Health
Vitamin D is necessary for healthy immune function, especially in response to infection (such as COVID-19), and many other health outcomes, which will be tracked as part of GrassrootsHealth’s upcoming Immune Boost project.
Vitamins and minerals interact with each other – for example, magnesium is needed to activate vitamin D, and they play complimentary roles in how the immune system functions. Certain functions and cells that must act as part of the immune system response may not work properly without enough of these nutrients. This is why it is especially important to be aware of what nutrients you may not be getting enough of if your goal is to have the most efficient immune response possible.
Few individuals are aware of their vitamin D status and many are deficient. Offering an easy home test and feedback will allow individuals to become informed of their vitamin D status and any existing deficiency that may need to be corrected, thus providing reason and incentive to make necessary adjustments. Currently, there is no way to tell a person’s vitamin D level without administering a blood test. Even if a person is taking vitamin D supplements, there is a 3-fold or more variation in the resulting vitamin D serum concentration (measured as 25(OH)D) – similar variation exists with other nutrients important to immune system health, such as omega-3 fatty acids and magnesium, for which home tests are also available.
Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D to Support A Healthy Immune Response to COVID-19?
Testing your nutrient status is easy and can be done from the comfort of your own home with a blood spot test kit. Testing is the only way to know what your levels are and with GrassrootsHealth you will be able to compare your data with that of 1000’s of others who have also been tested. Armed with your results and how they relate to body function, you will be better informed to make personal health decisions based on scientific information.
Stay tuned for the upcoming release of our Immune Boost project to help track your nutrient status and COVID-19 related symptoms!
Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D to Help Yourself?
We’re in a time of great crisis that could be greatly affected by making sure you and everyone you know has a serum level of at least 40 ng/ml. Help us help you.
Do you know what your vitamin D level is? Be sure to test today to find out, and take steps to keep it within a target of 40-60 ng/ml or 100-150 nmol/L! Give your immune system the nutrients it needs to support a healthy you and protect yourself from unnecessary diseases.
GrassrootsHealth Nutrient Research Institute is preparing to do a Community RCT with the use of our myData-myAnswers nutrient health system that over 15,000 people are already using for their health. We will demonstrate how one can use the Nutrient Research Model established by Dr. Robert Heaney to establish the effect of vitamin D serum levels of at least 40 ng/ml (100 nmol/L) on risk reduction with different ethnicities in the population. Please let us know if you’re interested in helping sponsor this project.

Through GrassrootsHealth Nutrient Research Institute, you can also test your essential elements magnesium, copper, zinc and selenium, toxins such as lead, mercury and cadmium, as well as your omega-3 levels, inflammation levels and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level. Find out your levels today! Log on to the test selection page (click the link below) to get your tests and see for yourself if your levels can be improved.
Make sure you track your results before and after, about every 6 months!

How can I track my nutrient intake and levels over time?
To help you track your supplement use and nutrient levels, GrassrootsHealth has created the Personal Health Nutrient Decision System called
For each specific supplement, you can track what days you take it, how much, and many other details. This will help you know your true supplemental intake and what patterns of use work for you to reach and maintain optimum nutrient levels. Check it out today!
